  • A: Aside from Water Festival, we are open on most holidays. Please give a call or send a message to check our hours.

  • Q: I see that you are located outside Yangon proper. Is it very far to reach you?

  • A: Sometimes when people hear “Than Lyin”, they think “Mandalay”! But we are really not very far. There is just one bridge connecting Yangon to Than Lyin, and as soon as you cross that bridge, you’ll get to our shop. If you are really wishing to avoid traffic as much as possible, weekends are typically more open on the roads, and Sunday you will face the least traffic. Do keep in mind that you can also simply order online, talk to us on phone or chat, and await delivery at your home should you prefer this option.   • Q: Do you have any Myanmar locations outside of Yangon?

  • A: At this moment we do not, however we do facilitate deliveries throughout the country. Please read below for more information

Placing An Order

 
  • Q: How can I place an order?

  • A: In any of the following ways: online through our website, sending us an email, through facebook, by phone, or in person at our showroom or by requesting us to visit your home or office.

  • Q: How can I check if the item is in stock or if I have to wait?

  • A: Easy! Just call or write us and we can let you know within minutes.

  • Q: I already paid for an item without checking to see if it was in stock. Can I cancel the order?

  • A: Sorry, once you have confirmed an order with payment, we begin processing it immediately so that it will arrive as soon as possible, so we cannot cancel. In the future, please make sure to check with us if you need it immediately!

  • Q: What are the payment terms?

  • A: If the item is in stock, then we can deliver to your door and you can pay cash on delivery in full. If the item needs to be ordered, we require a 50% deposit to begin processing the order, and the remaining balance is due on delivery.

  • Q: How do you accept payment?

  • A: You can make a local bank transfer through CB, KBZ, and AYA. PayPal, credit cards and international bank transfer might be accepted under certain circumstances.

  • Q: What currency can I pay in? How do you assess exchange rates?

  • A: US dollars and Myanmar kyat are both ok. We rely on CB Bank’s exchange rate and take the median rate between the buying and selling price. If you’d like to pay with another currency, generally that is ok but please ask in advance.

  • Q: How soon can you deliver after I confirm the order?

  • A: If the item is in stock, we can deliver within days. If not, it generally takes 3-4 weeks. Due to the unstable logistic status at the moment, orders might take longer than expected.

  • Q: I need the order guaranteed to arrive by a specific date. Can you do that?

  • A: It depends on the item, quantity, and date in question. We tend to have a little more control over rubberwood products, as these are all made locally and so we can place a rush order in our workshop if needed. For the other imported items, we have no control over road conditions, and from time to time such unforeseen events as a flash flooding or congested roads can cause unexpected delays. Usually such delays are no more than a day or two or a week at most, although we are not in control of this. If you need an item guaranteed to arrive by a certain date, please inform us of this prior to the order. Usually we cannot cancel an order once it has been processed.

  • Q: I understand that imported items depend on road conditions. How long is the process for workshop items you make yourselves?

  • A: It depends on the current order status at the moment. Feel free to write us to check in about timeline. Please note that orders can take slightly longer in the rainy season.

  • Q: If I see an item I like but I want to change the size or color, is that possible?

  • A: In many cases, yes. Please let us know your preference and we’ll get back to you.

  • Q: Can I special order items that I do not see on your website?

  • A: Yes, we can do customized orders. Send us a photo or describe what you’re looking for and we’ll provide a quotation. Making a sketch of the item you’d like with dimensions noted is also helpful.

  • Q: Do you give consultations for room design and product choice?

  • A: Yes we do! These can be arranged freely by requesting a meeting in advance.

  • Q: Can you visit my home to take measurements and suggest specific furnishing for me?

  • A: In some cases, yes. It depends on the size of your order and proposed budget. Contact us for more details about this option.

  • Q: I am making the order on behalf of a big company/foreign embassy/diplomatic or aid organization. Unfortunately, it can take our financial team some time to formally authorize the 50% deposit you need to begin processing an order. Because we have a good standing and will honor our commitment, can you please begin processing the order as soon as it is approved, rather than waiting for the deposit to clear?

  • A: Unfortunately we cannot. We have done this previously with such important or large clients, and then faced difficulty when the organization in question did not follow through as promised with the order even after we had begun work on it. As we are a small company, this creates an enormous strain on our resources as we cannot guarantee the commitment to an order which can be modified or cancelled at any moment. For this reason, we encourage employees making orders on behalf of their organization to begin the ordering process as soon as possible and to monitor and check in with their own finance departments to make sure they can expedite payment. We can also be flexible in allowing an immediate deposit of less than 50% to be made, as such smaller funds are easier to access. Please contact us for more details.

Return Policy

 
  • Q: Can I make changes to an order after it is made?

  • A: If you have ordered something that is not in stock, a 50% deposit is required. As soon as this is paid, we begin processing. For this reason, once you have confirmed the item and we have put it in motion, there is no way to make changes after this time. Please make sure that your order is correct prior to paying the deposit, and that all your questions have been answered.

  • Q: What is your return policy?

  • A: If the item is defective within the first year of purchase, we will repair or replace it, so long as it has not been mistreated. Please note that all sales are final and if there no quality problem then we cannot accept returns.


  • Q: Can you deliver an item to my home or office, or perhaps a range of item choices, and let me choose if I want to buy it or not?

  • A: Generally if you request a delivery, we come in good faith that you are accepting the item. If you are unsure or have questions, you are encouraged to come to our showroom and see the product in person— after all, it is much easier to bring the customer to the store than the store to the customer! However in some cases we have agreed to take products to a client, so if this is an urgent option, please make your request and we can consider.

  • Q: I am leaving the country and would like to sell back my furniture. Can you help me to do so?

  • A: Nicco furniture has an excellent resell value in Yangon. You can test the market yourself by posting on Facebook. If you would like us to buy it back from you directly, let us know what you have as well as the general condition, and we can consider this. We can also consider selling it on your behalf on our platform for a commission.

  • Q: If other customers have resold their used items to you, is this possible for us to buy if we are looking for discounted, pre-loved items?

  • A: Yes you can. We regularly post used and blemished items here.



Sales & Discounts

  • Q: What is your general policy regarding sale prices?

  • A: We offer free delivery for any orders $1,000 or more, and an additional 3% discount for all items $2,000 or more. If your order is higher than $3,000, check in with us and we can give you a special quotation. We generally run weekly sales on top of this, please check our website or facebook page regularly to see more.

  • Q: Can I get a further discount on a sale price?

  • A: No, just one discount is enough, sorry! You can take whichever discount is greater and apply that towards your order.

  • Q: Do you offer discounts for larger quantities?

  • A: Yes we do, and in fact this is the best way to save big with us! The more you order at one time, the greater the savings we can provide. Please let us know about your order size, and we will give you a quotation.

  • Q: If I place an order at one point and then order again several months later, can you consider the cumulative orders when applying a discount?

  • A: Generally our discount terms are applicable only when placing a single order at a time. So make sure you get everything you want at the time of ordering, as this is the best way to ensure savings.

  • Q: I already placed an order for an item that went on sale just afterwards. Is there any way I can get that discount applied?

  • A: Unfortunately, discounts can only be applied during the stated discount period, and cannot be offered retroactively. But don’t worry, we regularly run discounts and sales promotions! Please check out page weekly to see which items are on sale.

Delivery

 
  • Q: How soon can you deliver after I confirm the order?

  • A: If the item is in stock, we can deliver within days. If not, it generally takes 3-4 weeks.

  • Q: Is there a charge for delivery?

  • A: For orders over $1,000, one delivery trip is provided free of charge. For other orders, a nominal fee is charged to cover transportation and labor costs. If you would like a delivery estimate, contact us regarding your location and items you would like to order.

  • Q: I live in Yangon. Can you deliver right to my door? And can you also do installation?

  • A: Yes, we can deliver anywhere within Yangon. If there are stairs or narrow entryways, please let us know ahead of time so we can notify our delivery team. Installation is also possible, but should be requested in advance so that our team is prepared.

  • Q: Do I have to assemble the products myself?⁠

  • A: For all Yangon customers, there is no assembly required. For those outside of Yangon, we cannot assemble as there is more shipping involved. ⁠If for some reason you live in Yangon and do not want assembly, please tell us at the time of placing the order.

  • Q: Can you deliver to other Myanmar cities besides Yangon? What is the procedure?

  • A: Yes, we can do so and have regularly sent furniture all over the country. We will deliver your furniture to the Yangon bus station, and then you will pay a nominal bus transit fee to the bus service directly. You will then have to pick up at your local bus station, and note that we are unable to provide installation or assembly to customers outside of Yangon

  • Q: Can you export to other countries?

  • A: It depends on the products being ordered as well as the country. We have do export to other countries from time to time, so please submit an inquiry for us to consider.

  • Q: My friend also wants a delivery. If you deliver to both of us can we share the bill?

  • A: For every place that a delivery is scheduled, a fee will be assessed. If you would like two orders delivered at the same time to one address, then just one delivery charge is necessary. However if the items are large some added fee may be included, and note that the balance will have to be paid in full at the time of delivery.

  • Q: I have a big order and would like to receive a partial delivery when some items are ready. Is this possible?

  • A: Yes, it is, however note that every time we have to deliver to your location, a separate delivery fee will be assessed. So you have the choice of getting a partial order earlier and paying an additional delivery charge, or waiting till everything is ready at the same time and paying just once.

  • Q: How is delivery time and date confirmed?

  • A: At least one day in advance, our delivery manager will contact you to confirm the delivery date and a time window we will aim to arrive. We will try as much as possible to be flexible and schedule the delivery for the time most suitable for you, and if that particular time of day does not work, we can reschedule for another date. Note we are unable to deliver in early morning and late evening.

  • Q: When do I have to pay the balance?

  • A: If you are paying in cash, you must pay at the latest when you receive the items. If you are paying by local bank transfer, PayPal, or credit card, you must pay the day before. If you have confirmed a time with our delivery team and then you find you are unable to pay the balance, we cannot leave the items with you and you will be assessed a delivery charge for that visit.

  • Q: What if we confirm a delivery but I am not there when your team comes?

  • A: If you agree to a time with our delivery team and then are unable to be at that location and do not inform us prior, a charge will be assessed. So make sure you stay after confirming the time and date!


Our Workshop

 
  • Q: I would really like to buy locally as much as possible. Which items from your store are “Made in Myanmar?”

  • A: All of our rubberwood products are entirely locally made, from start to finish. The wood is purchased from southern Myanmar, and both the carpenters and polishers are local Burmese who have been trained in the craft.

  • Q: What local woods and materials are possible?

  • A: Most of our locally made furniture is rubber wood. Depending on the season, other woods also become available, such as myan kyone, ko ko pin, yamane, and others. We do not use teak because we have serious concerns about the environmental sustainability and do not want to contribute to deforestation. However, if you have teakwood already, our workshop can accept this and turn it into furniture. See more about wood selection here.

  • Q: Do you use processed wood or blockboard?

  • A: No we do not! You will only find solid wood when you purchase a Nicco product.

  • Q: Can you tell me about the wood options?

  • A: The best budget option is bamboo, which is lightweight and flexible for a range of uses. Local rubber wood is the most cost-effective solid wood. If you are looking to invest in furniture that will last a lifetime, our top options are imported oak or walnut. Teak is also an excellent option, but we do not supply teak wood ourselves.

  • Q: Is your wood treated?

  • A: Yes, we only use treated wood.

  • Q: Please tell me about the type of finishing you use. Also, is the furniture safe to put in our bedrooms and home right away?

  • A: We use a special polish that we acquire through a European supplier. This is much a higher quality product than many local options, and we choose it not only for its quality look but more importantly, that it is much safer and put a high value on customer health. We always let the furniture air out in our workshop for several days prior to delivery, to make sure there is no chance of toxins that can affect you. In the rainy season this can take longer, as the air is very moist at this time. So yes, you can use all your Nicco furniture right away! (You may be interested to know that Nicco was one of the first Myanmar companies to begin using a natural polish over a glossy, shiny coat. The Myanmar Times wrote about this here).

  • Q: Can you do wood stains?

  • A: Yes we can, and you can see samples of wood stains on various products pages as well as in our showroom. One important point to note here is the same stain applied on different woods will turn out differently. For example, a maple brown polish applied to rubber, teak, oak, or walnut will look different in the end because the wood itself is different. So make sure that you consider not only your preferred stain, but also preferred wood type.

  • Q: I understand there are different grades of local wood available. What kind do you use for furniture?

  • A: We only purchase rubber wood that is the top AA grade, nothing less.

  • Q: How does your furniture fare in Myanmar’s wet and moist Rainy Season? Is there anything I need to be concerned about?
    A: First of all, please do note that our furniture is expected to be placed indoors in a temperature-controlled environment. If you wish to use your furniture outdoors or expect it will be regularly exposed to the elements, make sure to inquire about the suitability of this prior to purchase. To answer your question, if you are using your furniture daily generally it is fine, although if you happen to be away for several weeks it is possible some slight mold may develop. In this case just take a damp rag and wipe it off. If you feel the molding is excessive or affects the furniture use, please let us know. If your furniture is in a more temperate climate, such as in air conditioning, the molding is much less. In rare cases wood may expand as well during the rainy season, even though it has been treated. If this happens to any of your items, just contact us and we’ll send our team to repair it free of charge.

  • Q: Can you tell me a little about how you have determined the pricing for your workshop items?

  • A: We care deeply about both the quality of our products as well as the health of our customers and workers, and these factors have affected our pricing for workshop items. First of all , we only purchase AA grade wood, while we have noticed some other companies use lower grades. Secondly, we source our finishing from Europe, which has a better look and is much healthier than most of the locally made finishings which have more toxins. Finally, for workshop items we ensure certain salary standards for our employees which tend to be higher than other workshops.

However, some of our bigger clients prefer that we not disclose that we provided their interior design, so we are unable offer a complete list. The short answer is that we have accomplished a wide range of projects at schools, cafes, restaurants, bars, hotels, hostels, condos, homes, offices, dormitories, monasteries, and more.
